DonationStreet is a licensee of
the TRUSTe Privacy Program. TRUSTe is an independent, non-profit organization
whose mission is to enable individuals and organizations to establish trusting
relationships based on respect for personal identity and information by
promoting the use of fair information practices.
This privacy statement covers the site www.DonationStreet.com. Because we want
to demonstrate our commitment to our users’ privacy, we have agreed to disclose
our privacy practices and have them reviewed for compliance by TRUSTe.
Part of our mission is to build users’ trust and confidence in the Internet by
promoting the use of fair information practices. We want this web site to
demonstrate its commitment to your privacy. In this spirit, we disclose our
information practices and agree to notify you of:
1. What personally identifiable information of yours or third party personally
identification is collected from you through the web site.
2. The organization collecting the information.
3. How the information is used.
4. With whom the information may be shared.
5. What choices are available to you regarding collection, use and distribution
of the information.
6. The kind of security procedures that are in place to protect the loss, misuse
or alteration of information under DonationStreet control.
7. How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.
If you feel that this company is not abiding by its posted privacy policy, you
should first contact Privacy@DonationStreet.com via email. We will do our best
to resolve your concerns. If you do not receive acknowledgment of your
inquiry or it is not satisfactorily addressed, you should then contact TRUSTe
through the TRUSTe Watchdog Dispute Resolution Process (http://www.truste.org/consumers/watchdog_complaint.php). TRUSTe will serve as a
liaison with the Web site to resolve users concerns. You may also contact
us via mail at DonationStreet.com, 17 Sterling Court, Valley Springs, CA 95252.
DonationStreet is the sole owner of the information collected on
this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways
different from what is disclosed in this statement. DonationStreet collects
information from our users at several different points on our website.
DonationStreet does NOT share any personally identifiable customer information
with any 3rd parties, except as disclosed in this statement. See “Legal
Disclaimer.”
In order to use this website, a user must first complete the
registration form. During registration a user is required to give their contact
information (such as name and email address). This information is used to
contact the user about the services on our site for which they have expressed
interest. On occasion it is option for the user to provide demographic
information (such as income and gender), but encouraged so we can provide a more
personalized experience on our site.
Again, we do not share any personally identifiable customer information with any
3rd parties, except in very limited circumstances below.
DonationStreet does not collect any order information from its Members. During
the shopping process, a Member may be asked for this information by the
Merchant. The Merchant will request that a user provide contact information
(like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card
number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to
fill customer’s orders. If the Merchant has trouble processing an order, this
contact information is used to get in touch with the user. DonationStreet
suggests that the user review the individual Merchant's Privacy Policy.
Donationstreet.com serves both session and persistent cookies,
which are pieces of data stored on the user’s hard drive and/or browser, in
order to facilitate the functioning of our site and service.
We use session ID cookies served from our domain, donationstreet.com, to
facilitate navigation while on our site. These are deleted when you close your
browser. The persistent cookies that may be served from our domain,
donationstreet.com, are served to facilitate logging into your account.
Consequently these types of cookies are tied to users’ account information.
However, NO personally identifiable information from your account is ever shared
with any third party, except in the very limited circumstances listed below.
Please keep in mind that by serving our donationstreet.com cookies and serving
cookies from third parties, like our affiliated companies and
advertisers, we are able to provide our
service by keeping track of ‘click thrus’ and affiliate relationships. We do
this by using an anonymous numeric shopper ID that these affiliates cannot trace
back or associate with the personal information submitted through our site. You
can always remove persistent cookies. To do so review your browser’s “help” file
instructions. Even though you can still use our site if you remove cookies, you
will not be able to receive credit without allowing them and in some cases may
not be able to participate in special offers provided through the site. Because
third party cookies are bits of data served from other sites we have no direct
access to or control over these cookies or their use once they are set on our
site.
Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users in the
aggregate to enhance the experience on our site. For example, we may need to
determine which advertisers receive the most ‘clicks’ so we can continue to
provide the shopping venues that are relevant to you.
Remember though, NO personally identifiable information collected through our
site will be accessible by our affiliated companies or our advertisers.
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing
information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any
personally identifiable information while on our site. Once the user closes
their browser, the cookie simply terminates. For instance, by setting a cookie
on our site, the user would not have to log in a password more than once,
thereby saving time while on our site. If a user rejects the cookie, they may
still use our site. The only drawback to this is that the user will be limited
in some areas of our site. For example, the user will not be able to participate
in any of our Sweepstakes, Contests or monthly Drawings that may take place.
Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to
enhance the experience on our site.
Some of our business partners use cookies on our site (for example, third party
affiliate stores or advertisers). However, we have no access to or control over
these cookies.
Also see "Links."
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track
user’s movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP
addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information, except for site
maintenance and reporting abuse or fraud.
Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)
Some of our third party affiliate organizations employs a
software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), that help
us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective.
Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to
cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. The main
difference between the two is that clear gifs are invisible on the page and are
much smaller, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.
Clear Gifs can "work with" existing cookies on a computer if they are both from
the same Web site or affiliate organization. That means, for example, that if a
person visited “www.companyX.com”, which uses an affiliate organization’s clear
gif, the Web site [or affiliate organization] would match the clear gif's
identifier and the affiliate organization’s cookie ID number, to show the past
online behavior for that computer. This collected information would then be
given to the affiliate company [or Web site]. To learn more about our affiliate
organization’s use of clear gifs, please go to this
list.
We also may use these types of clear gifs in our HTML-based emails in the same
manner. Except for the clear gifs in emails, Clear gifs are not directly tied to
users’ personally identifiable information, only to the anonymous shopper ID. NO
personally identifiable information from your account is ever shared with any
third party, except in the very limited circumstances listed below.
We will share aggregated demographic information with our
partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that
can identify any individual person.
Since we do not ship products, we do not use an outside shipping company to ship
orders, or a credit card processing company to bill users for goods and
services.
We sometimes may partner with another party to provide specific services. When
the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact
information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services.
These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except
for the purpose of providing these services.
We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable
information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary
to protect our rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order,
or legal process served on our Web site.
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that
we DonationStreet are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other
sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read
the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally
identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information
collected by this Web site.
If a user wishes to subscribe to our newsletter, we ask for
contact information such as name and email address.
From time-to-time our site requests information from users via surveys or
contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and
the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information.
Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping
address), and demographic information (such as zip code). Contact information
will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be
used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this
site.
If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a
friend about our site, we ask them for the friend’s name and email address.
DonationStreet will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them
to visit the site. DonationStreet stores this information for the sole purpose
of sending this one-time email. The friend may contact DonationStreet at
Privacy@DonationStreet.com to request the removal of this information from the
database.
This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When
users submit sensitive information via the website, your information is
protected both online and off-line.
Our registration form does not ask users to enter sensitive information (such as
credit card number and/or social security number).
If you have any questions about the security at our website, you can send an
email to Privacy@DonationStreet.com.
In order for this website to properly fulfill its obligation to
our Members and their Causes, it is necessary for us to supplement the
information we receive with information from 3rd party sources.
For example, you may choose to receive your rebate directly, in which case your
mailing address is required. IF you choose to send your rebate to the Cause or
Causes of your choice, we will need the mailing address for those Causes.
We send all new members a welcoming email to verify password and
username. Established members will occasionally receive information on services,
special deals, and a newsletter. Out of respect for the privacy of our users we
present the option to not receive these types of communications. Please see our
choice and opt-out below.
We also send the user site and service announcement updates.
Members are not able to un-subscribe from service announcements, which contain
important information about the service. We communicate with the user to provide
requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account via email
or phone.
If a user’s personally identifiable information changes (such as
your zip code), or if a user no longer desires our service, we have endeavored
to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user’s personal data provided
to us. This can usually be done at the Member Home page or by emailing our
Customer Support at Privacy@DonationStreet.com.
Our users are given the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of having their
information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point
where we ask for the information. For example, our sign-up form has an ‘opt-out’
mechanism (Member Preferences) so Members who use our site, but do not wish to
receive any marketing material, can keep their email address off of our lists.
Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter or promotional materials may
opt-out of receiving these communications by updating their preferences on the
Member Home page.
You may also unsubscribe by emailing us at Privacy@DonationStreet.com and
detailing any requests to us in the text of the email.
Users of our site are always notified when their information is being collected
by any outside parties. We do this so our users can make an informed choice as
to whether they should proceed with services that require an outside party, or
not.
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post a notice
for those changes on our Homepage (www.DonationStreet.com) so our users are
always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what
circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use
personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that
stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email.
Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this
different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy
under which the information was collected.
